Cold calling is a skill worth adding to your skill set. The problem is people meander in failure for so long, they don’t consider cold calling effective. But what no one ever teaches you, is how to be valuable, and how not waste people’s time. This one un known phrase which took me a decade to learn, is yours for free!

In my course I teach people, not to waste the time of others, and to be effective in their own time. Cold calling was and still is a barometer for what’s going on in your own office, and the office your calling on. What are the folks your contacting doing on the other side of that humongous phone you are dialing. It’s heavy because you haven’t yet mastered what it can do for you. The first step to this amazing phrase is this:

  1. Is this a bad time? This is a great question. Your empathizing with the person you’ve gotten through to, and now your putting the ball in their court. They are in control. The trick is to get them comfortable and in control, and easing their anxiety. This question also helps them establish when a good time is, or if now is not a good one. Remember your not in the office with them, your far far away. Emotionally, physically, and beyond. Let them set up a time for your to call back.
